APPLICATION PROCESS:
There are 3 steps to applying to Summit:

STEP 1: District Programs Registry - Nov 10 - Dec 18, 2025

• Go to https://dsapreg.vsb.bc.ca and complete the district registration. 
  You will be asked for basic information (name, contact info etc.) and to rank up to 3 VSB mini-schools you would like to apply to.  You must complete this step by the deadline of December 18th, 2025.

• In this process, you will be asked if you want to submit documents. You DO NOT need to submit any documents here for Summit's application.

 

STEP 2: Summit Application and Supporting Documents - January 8, 2026 (by 12pm NOON)

• REQUIRED: In this application, you must submit the following three documents: 

  • Fill out the Summit Mini School application form and submit online (opens November 28, 2025)

  • Supporting Documents (grade 6/7 report cards)​

• OPTIONAL: You MAY include up to 3  pages of documents to support your application. These can include awards, certificates, (external-not elementary school) reference letters, or work samples. 

• The Summit Application, report cards and supporting documents must be submitted to Van Tech Secondary office by the deadline of January 8th, 2026, at noon.  Please paper clip only, DO NOT SUBMIT IN ENVELOPE OR FOLDER.

• SUBMIT IN THIS ORDER (DO NOT PRINT APPLICATION):​

  2. June 2026 Report

  3. Additional Documents

 

STEP 3: Entrance Testing and Interview - January 27, 2026 (afternoon)

•  From the application package, our selection committee will shortlist approximately 60 students and invite them to a testing/interview day. Invitations will be sent out.

• Selected candidates will receive more information (via email) about what to expect.

Criteria for Selection: 

1. 'Extending' results in Math and Science on Grade 6 and 7 reports

2. 'Proficient' or better results in all other subject areas

3. Results of selection day testing

4. Student responses on application, teacher report card comments, and interview process that indicate positive work habits and attitudes towards learning, as well as a diversity of interests.
